A Structural Glazing Company Actually Based in Liverpool
Most of the companies competing for architectural glazing work in Liverpool are not in Liverpool. They are London and Home Counties firms running a page for your postcode, and their nearest surveyor is three hours away. We are ten minutes from the city centre.
That matters more than it sounds. Structural glazing is not a catalogue product. Panels are sized to the millimetre against a building that has usually moved over a century or more, they are heavy, and they often need a crane and a road closure to install. Being local means we can survey quickly, measure the opening ourselves, sort access with you in person, and be back the same week if something needs adjusting.

Our Work Across Liverpool and Merseyside
We have installed oversized structural rooflights in Liverpool, steel-look aluminium doors across Merseyside, and full-height frameless glass walls on the Wirral. On the other side of the city we have worked through West Lancashire and out to Wilmslow and Cheshire.
Liverpool housing stock is varied and unforgiving — Georgian townhouses in the city, Victorian terraces through the inner suburbs, 1930s semis out towards Allerton and Childwall, and large detached houses in Woolton, Mossley Hill and Blundellsands. Each needs a different structural approach. A glass box on the back of a Victorian terrace is a very different job to a glass link joining two buildings on a large plot, and we detail them accordingly.

Planning Permission and Conservation Areas in Liverpool
Liverpool has a large number of conservation areas — among them the Georgian Quarter, Rodney Street, Canning, Sefton Park, Woolton Village and the Grassendale and Cressington parks — and a great many listed buildings. If your property sits inside one, permitted development rights are usually restricted and a rear glass extension will normally need full planning permission rather than going through as permitted development.
That is not a reason to give up on the idea. Conservation officers are often more receptive to a clearly modern, lightweight glass addition than to a pastiche extension pretending to be original, precisely because the new work reads as obviously new and is reversible. What they want to see is minimal intervention into the historic fabric, slim sightlines and a design that does not compete with the original elevation.
Which authority you are dealing with depends on where you are: Liverpool City Council covers the city itself, while Sefton, Wirral, Knowsley and St Helens each run their own planning departments with their own local policies. We have worked across all of them, and we will tell you honestly at survey stage whether we think a design will get through.
What Affects the Cost of Architectural Glazing?
Every project is priced individually, but the things that move the number most are consistent:
- Pane size. Cost per square metre rises sharply once panels exceed what two people can lift, because you are then into crane hire and traffic management.
- Frameless versus framed. Structural silicone jointing and minimal sightlines carry a premium over a framed system.
- Glass specification. Solar control coatings, triple glazing, acoustic laminates and self-cleaning glass all add cost — and are usually worth it.
- Structure below the glass. Steels, foundations and groundworks are frequently a bigger share of the budget than the glazing itself.
- Access. A terraced property with no rear access is a materially different job to a detached house with a driveway.
