This stunning ‘glass box’ was constructed to bring an ‘al fresco’ kitchen experience to this charming Cheshire country cottage. To prepare food in this area gives an open feel with abundant light that contrasts perfectly with the more restrained interior of this listed building. The large, slimline aluminium sliding patio doors simple disappear into the adjacent framing when open, to further enhance this custom designed unique extension which fits seamlessly with the cottage.
Special silicone sealed double glazing units were used, incorporating an inner leaf of 12mm thick tempered safety glass with an ultra high-performance thermal coating and an outer leaf of similar substance with a cleverly placed integral screen printed area to hide cables etc.
The units had an Argon inert gas filled cavity with warm edge spacer to ensure maximum thermal efficiency and had polished edges that enabled a glass to glass seal without additional framing.
